Kusun Ensemble from Ghana
to Perform at
Bluefield State College
February 12

(Bluefield)—The Kusun Ensemble from Ghana will perform Pan African and traditional West African music and dance during a February 12 program, beginning at noon, in the Basic Science Auditorium/Bluefield State College.  The program is a featured event during BSC’s celebration of Black History Month.

 “The Kusun Ensemble has received outstanding reviews from a multitude of international and local audiences and presenters,” observed Dr. Sapphire Cureg, Director of Multicultural Affairs at BSC.  “This extraordinary ensemble will move us with traditional, vibrant dances, supported by some of the most talented musicians from Africa’s rhythm and beat culture, Ghana.”

The Ensembles leader, Nii Tettey Tettey, is a master musician, composer, and teacher of international merit.  “He conveys many treasures of his homeland through songs and informative stories, as the whole group of dynamic performers will keep us on the edge of our seats with their powerful show,” Dr. Cureg added.  The Kusun Ensemble blends the authentic sounds of traditional instruments with the exuberance of Ga hilife music and the complexity of African jazz.

This group continues to develop a unique and innovative Ghanaian sound, always offering something spawned from their traditional. The tropical flavors of West Africa’s music, dance and culture will be on full display.

There is no admission charge for their presentation and the public is encouraged to attend and experience this unique event.
