Four GCCC Students Win Awards at State Phi Beta Lambda Competition

Four students at the Greenbrier Community College Center of Bluefield State College earned awards at the recent West Virginia Phi Beta Lambda Competitive Events program. The GCCC students finishing first or second at the state level have qualified for the national PBL competition in Orlando, FL in July.

Jeremy Osborne (first place/Business Law & second place/Computer Applications), Debra Ramsey (second place/Accounting I & Marketing), and Veronica Pack (second place/Management) have qualified for the national competition.

Debra Loudermilk (fourth place/Management & sixth place/Word Processing) and Veronica Pack (fifth place/Word Processing) also earned special recognition at the state competition.

David Schmauss, Assistant Professor of Business, and Leila Kennedy, Assistant Professor of Accounting, are co-advisors for the GCCC student organization. 'We're extremely proud of our students," Kennedy noted. "in each event in which a GCCC student competed, that student received a 'top six' award. That's a truly significant accomplishment."

The students were recognized at a May 27 award ceremony at GCCC.
