Adams Recognized as Outstanding Freshman

Samuel H. (Hank) Adams, IV, son of Michelle D. Adams and Samuel H. Adams, III of Westminster Maryland, has been named the "Outstanding Freshman in Engineering Technology and Computer Science" at Bluefield State College for 1998. In recognition of his outstanding academic performance, he will receive the "Claude B. Dalton Award."

Professor Dalton taught mathematics to engineering technology and computer science students at BSC for more than 20 years.

Adams is a graduate of Westminster High School. He won the award for "Achievement in Mechanical Drawing and Design," as well as the "State Certificate of Merit." At BSC, he is a member of Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, Phi Kappa Gamma fraternity, and he's also a member of the BSC baseball team.

BSC Professor Roger Owensby notes, "Hank is an outstanding student in my freshman mathematics class. He consistently scores very high on all tests, is dependable, and is a pleasure to have in class. Professor Bruce Mutter adds, "Hank has excellent maturity as a freshman, and his work in Architectural Graphics is exceptional."
