BSC's "Post Program" Addresses Evolving Needs for Professional Office Sytems Worker

A recently-developed, associate degree program at Bluefield State College is designed to develop students' skills to meet the evolving requisites for professional office systems workers.

The "POST" (Professional Office Systems & Technology) program was developed so students could gain career and professional development skills that program graduates will find in high demand in the workplace, according to BSC professor Dr. Deborah Halsey-Hunter.

"This program was established in recognition of the changing demands in business offices," she noted. "With the increased reliance upon technology throughout business, a demand for technologically-adept professional office systems workers has arisen."

Students in the program will utilize the latest business-adapted software and all students will participate in internship experiences with area businesses. "The internships have been mutually beneficial for the students and for the businesses with which they become involved," Halsey-Hunter added. "The career opportunities for graduates of this two-year program are extremely bright."

Additional information on the "POST" program may be obtained by contacting Dr. Halsey-Hunter at (304) 327-4088.
