BSC Nursing Faculty Members Contribute
Chapters to Book Focusing on
Gerontological Advanced Practice Nursing

Dr. Harriet H. Duncan, Ph.D., R.N., Professor of Nursing and Associate Professor of Nursing Befty N. Blevins, R.N., C.C.R.N., R.N.C., M.S.N., have contributed chapters of scholarly material included in the recently-published NGNA CORE CURRICULUM FOR GERONTOLOGICAL ADVANCED PRACTICE NURSES.

Dr. Duncan and Dr. Shirley S. Travis, Ph.D., R.N.C., co-authored the chapters "Models of Health Behaviors," "Adult Learning Theory," and "Advocacy," included in Section I ("Theoretical Foundations in Nursing and Gerontology") of the publication. They also collaborated in writing the chapters "Nutritional Assessment" and "Energy and Endurance" included in Section X (Practice/Illness Management."

Blevins' authored the chapter on "The Patient With Cardiovascular Disorders" and coauthored, with Sue Meiner, RN, the chapter "Fluid and Electrolyte Balance."

NGNA CORE CURRICULUM FOR GERONTOLOGICAL ADVANCED PRACTICE NURSES will be used as a basis for curriculum development or department standards of practice, an organizing framework for preparing for gerontological nursing certification, or as a shelf reference. The text, published by Sage, is available in the Hardway Library at BSC.
