"Gospel Singing Extravaganza"

Minorities on the Move

More than 250 area residents attended the recent "Gospel Singing Extravaganza," at Bluefield State College. The event was organized and sponsored by the BSC student organization, "Minorities on the Move."

The three-hour program at the BSC Basic Science Auditorium featured six artists and/or groups, the West Virginia Golden Voices, Lawrence Williamson, the Fantastic Harmoneers, Bonita Mitchell and "Just Praise," the Greater Mt. Zion Pentecostal Church Choir, and the Redeeming Life Christian Choir. "It was an outstanding program," noted BSC Alumni Association President Deirdre Guyton. "Many people expressed the hope that there will be more programs of this type at the College in the future."

Ms. Gina Blair, a "Minorities on the Move" officer and 1998 BSC graduate, emceed the program. Anthony Dillard, Educational Outreach Counselor at BSC and co-advisor of "Minorities on the Move," expressed special appreciation to the College, Rasi's Galaxy Food Center, Kroger's of Bluefield, VA and Bluefield, WV, and Acme Markets for their support of the event.
