The WV Society of Washington, DC has presented to BSC a $5000 check, an amount that will be matched by $5000 from the BSC Foundation to assist in defraying the educational costs of selected BSC students by providing monetary support (not to exceed $500 per scholarship) to offset the estimated cost of textbooks required for one year.
Recipients will be regularly enrolled freshman students at Bluefield State College, and shall be either legal residents of West Virginia or the child of a native West Virginian, need financial assistance, and have high academic promise as determined by appropriate officials of BSC.
Gary L. Crayton, President of the West Virginia Society of Washington, DC, noted, "I feel very proud and honored in establishing this book scholarship fund for Bluefield State College."
