BSC Nursing Conference Oct. 5
Commemorates 30 Year Anniversary
of Nursing Education
at Bluefield State College

Bluefield State College's Nursing program commemorates 30 years of nursing education at BSC when the College hosts a Nursing Conference, October 5, 4 p.m.-9 p.m.

The conference, entitled "The BSC Nursing Program Looks Toward The Millennium," features Barbara Banonis (RN, MSN), whose keynote address will focus upon "A Vision for Nursing." Banonis is president of the West Virginia Nurses Association and founder of Life Quest International, a business organization promoting healthier and happier lifestyles. She is a contributing writer for the State Journal and has published articles in many research journals.

Other featured presenters include Cheryl Winter (MSN, RN, CS) coordinator of the ADN program at BSC's Beckley campus, Bernadette Dragich (CAGS, MSN, RN, CS), associate professor Nursing & Health at BSC, Deborah Halsey-Hunter (Ed.D) professor in the Business Division at BSC, and Carol Cofer (MSN, MEd, RN, CS), director of the Associate Degree Nursing Program at BSC.

The conference recognizes the 30th anniversary of BSC's first nursing graduating class, the 20th anniversary of the first nursing graduating class at BSC's Beckley campus, and the tenth anniversary of the first graduating class in the BSC Baccalaureate nursing program.

Presentations include Winter's "BSC's Nursing Legacy," Banonis' "Vision for Nursing," Dragich's "Caring Narratives," Halsey-Hunter's "Communication in the Work Environment," and Cofer's "The White Blood Cell."

The conference is approved for five contact hours. BSC is approved by the WV State Board of Examiners for Licensed Practical Nurses (Registration #: WVBPN: 080), and by the West Virginia State Board of Examiners for Registered Nurses (Registration #: WV96-0044RN).

Advance registration (including CEUs and a light dinner) is $20 per person. Registration fees may be made payable to "BSC Economic Enhancement," and sent to BSC Center for Economic Enhancement, 219 Rock Street, Bluefield, WV 24701. Additional information may be obtained by calling (304) 327-4071.
