Student Travel

The opportunity to experience other cultures and ways of life can change a student’s life. Bluefield State College encourages student groups to visit other states and countries to enrich their education. The leaders of tomorrow – operating on a local or larger scale – require a global perspective in the modern world. Gifts to travel programs enable students who could not otherwise experience the benefits of such trips to broaden their horizons.

Campus groups including the Student Government Association, Honors College and classmates in the various schools also take trips throughout the school year. In most cases, the students must raise the funds themselves. Establishment of an endowed travel scholarship will ensure that students of Bluefield State College will always have the opportunity to learn first-hand about the world at large, regardless of their financial means.

In the Spring of 2007 five of the Bluefield State College's Honors Program students traveled to Atlanta, Georgia. Standing in front of a Martin Luther King, Jr. themed quilt are (left-to-right) Mychal Guyton, Tabatha Pack, Patience Hall, Stacy Nicholson, and Weston Monk.
