Bluefield State College recently hosted a national distance learning conference, featuring six nationally-recognized educators. The program focused on the use of electronic classrooms, faculty development, and the development of a distance learning program for higher education.
The two-day conference attracted more than 70 educators, who attended specific workshops on "Access and Excellence: The Creation of High Quality Distance Education Programming," "Transforming Education through Faculty Development," "The MOO and Distance Education: Reaching the Pasture Lands," and "Distance Learning: A Transformation Model for Higher Education." Participants also worked through two sessions devoted to "hands-on" utilization of an electronic classroom.
Bluefield State College currently offers 12-15 distance learning classes, with two electronic classrooms at its main campus and individual electronic classrooms at its campuses in Lewisburg and Beckley.
