Welcome to the Website for the Office of Multicultural Affairs at Bluefield State College. The office serves as a unit in the President’s Office.
In order to make education possible to all, Office of Multicultural Affairs exists to build and promote a campus community that is inclusive, welcoming, and respectful of differences in race, ethnicity, gender, national origin, economic background, age, religion, disability, veteran status or marital status.
To this end, Office of Multicultural Affairs collaborates with other academic and non-academic departments/offices to ensure that students are enriched in their learning experiences to become global citizens.
The Office of Multicultural Affairs:
- Serves as a key resource for development and maintenance of a Multicultural campus environment.
- Encourages cultural exchanges between students, faculty, staff and administration.
- Provides support and advisement among culturally diverse organizations.
- Collaborates with Human Resources to recruit and enhance a diverse workforce.
- Collaborates with other departments in efforts to strengthen recruitment and retention services.

The mission of the Office of Multicultural Affairs is to help build, promote, and enhance diversity in Bluefield State College resulting in increased awareness, understanding, appreciation, respect, and celebration of differences in race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, sex, age, economic status, and ability.

Advisory
Committee
|
The purpose of the Advisory Committee is to build shared commitment to diversity throughout Bluefield State College. The Committee is representative of the greater college community and functions in an advisory role to the Office of Multicultural Affairs for campus wide diversity initiatives. The goals are:
- Identify and promote college community and diversity opportunities/initiatives that involve multiple college constituencies working together.
- Provide guidance in building social justice awareness throughout Bluefield State College.
- Offer learning resources/opportunities in diverse formats to meet the global needs of our students.
The Office of Multicultural Affairs Advisory Committee meets monthly to discuss current activities, initiatives and issues, and strategize on collective action. It is chaired by the Director of Multicultural Affairs.
