BSC Business Degrees |
Click on the catalog listing under the degree you are seeking to see the curriculum for. To know which catalog you are under, you must go by the year you started to attend Bluefield State. The only times your starting year will differ from your catalog year is when 1) you have not been enrolled for one calendar year - you will be under the new catalog year, or 2) if you have switched catalogs - this will affect all degrees you are attaining (for those who are earning multiple degrees.) |

Bachelor of Science Degree in Accountancy |
| Students majoring in Accountancy must complete a minimum of 128 hours and must satisfy the general studies, business core, and accountancy component requirements. (Students must have completed 150 hours before they can take the CPA exam.) This program provides the student with a comprehensive major in accountancy that will qualify him/her to pursue various career opportunities in the accounting profession. Strong emphasis is placed on the use of micro-computers to solve accounting problems. |
| To graduate from the B.S. in Accountancy program, the student must possess a 2.75 grade-point average in all accounting (ACCT) courses taken at Bluefield State College. |
| Students planning to sit for the Certified Public Accountants examination in the state of West Virginia need to complete 150 hours of course study. The specific courses required are included in the B.S. in Accountancy program. Students graduating with the B.S. in Business Administration - Accounting Specialization need to be sure to take BUSN 302 - Business Law for Professional Accountants as an elective and ACCT 430 - Advanced Accounting, ACCT 350 - Advanced Taxation, and ACCT 431 - Auditing Principles as their ACCT 300/400 electives. Be sure to consult with your accounting advisor. |

RESTRICTED ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS FOR ACCOUNTANCY DEGREES:
Students seeking admission to this program must meet one of the following criteria:
- a 3.0 average in Intermediate Accounting sequence, ACCT 301 and ACCT 302; or
- a grade of "B" or better in ACCT 302 - Intermediate Accounting II.
Transfer students who do not take ACCT 301 and ACCT 302 at Bluefield State College must have a 3.0 average or higher in the first two accounting courses taken at Bluefield State College, other than ACCT 201, 202, or BUSN 240. If a transfer student does not meet this requirement, he/she may be admitted to the Accountancy program after obtaining a 3.0 average in all accounting courses taken at Bluefield State College, other than ACCT 201, 202, and BUSN 240. |
Business Administration Baccalaureate Degree |
Students completing degrees in business administration must complete a minimum of 128 hours and must satisfy all general studies, business core and specialization requirements. Students are required to choose two specializations from the following business areas: accounting, management, marketing, and computer science.

The School of Business offers a business minor for students who are non-business majors who wish to develop expertise in business.
