The World Wide Web offers lots of resources for teachers at all levels.
Yahoo (http://www.yahoo.com) has an Education listing that contains sites classified for easier browsing. For instance, you could click on Education, then K-12, then Mathematics to find good sites for math teachers.
Education Index
is a good metasite -- that is, a web site that lists and organizes lins to other sites. It classifies all kinds of education resources, from prenatal to postgraduate.
Here are a few especially useful K-12 sites to get you started:
Using the Internet in the classroom:
The Primary and Secondary School Internet User's FAQ answers many questions you may have about using the internet in the classroom. It includes cost and fund-raising information, technical information, and security as well as exciting topics such as on-line collaboration. It also offers lots of other sources of information, including listservs, newsgroups, books and organizations. This isn't the prettiest web site
you'll visit, but it may be the most useful! Keep in mind, though, that the information presented here is from 1994 -- use this site as a starting point, not as your only source of information.
Professional Organizations:
The National Education Association's web site includes lots of information and some humor. The Resource Room provides links to many excellent sites!
Lesson plan exchange:
Teachers' Net
features a lesson exchange -- share your most successful teaching ideas and pick up some new ones!
