Bluefield State Contingent Raises Nearly $2600 Through 2016 “Walk to End Alzheimer’s”

Five BSC teams, captained by Dr. Tracey Anderson, Sheila Gates, Angelina Elkins, Sandy Wynn, and Tabatha Carter raised $2589.64 for the West Virginia Alzheimer’s Association through their efforts and participation in the event.

“So many members of our college community have served as caregivers for family members who have had Alzheimer’s, and now our students have had the opportunity to gain a first-hand understanding from the perspective of Alzheimer’s patients and caregivers—from diagnosis to grieving and loss,” noted Wynn, Director of BSC’s Associate Degree Nursing program.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the Alzheimer Association’s largest fundraising and awareness effort.  It supports vital programs and services the Association provides for families and caregivers facing the disease, while also promoting necessary research to seek a cure.
