As incoming first-year or transfer students, Bluefield State University students are welcomed to the Big Blue Family by Student Success Navigator Teams. A student’s Navigator Team is their dedicated support network that helps new students set and achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals. The core of each team is made up of a new student-assigned Admissions Mentor, Faculty Advisor, Academic Success Center Staff Member, Student Peer Mentor, and other university staff who work directly with students in various programs (Athletic Coach, ADA/Health Center Staff, Honor’s College, etc.). Students are central to the teams’ efforts to help them get the support they need for success at Bluefield State.
