Student Support Services is one of eight Federal TRIO Programs designed to identify and provide services for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. We provide Academic Tutoring and Mentoring; Counseling; Cultural Enrichment Trips; Seminars/Workshops; Computer Lab Access; and Services for Disabled Students.
The goal of SSS is to help our participants successfully stay in college and graduate.
Bluefield State College Statistics from 2014-2015 Annual Performance Report:
- 70% of participants persisted from the beginning of the 2013 academic year to the beginning of the 2014 academic year
- 91% of participants were in good academic standing at the end of the year
- 30% of the 2009-2010 cohort graduated with a bachelor's degree in six years
All students are strongly encouraged to meet with their assigned academic adviser to discuss their schedules, however Student Support Services staff will also be available for academic counseling.
